January 16, 2023by Lynxlaboratories0

Do you feel like you are experiencing symptoms of Cancer? Find out how you can detect and manage cancer with a DNA test in Nigeria.

Globally, Cancer is becoming an increasingly common illness, rising at a rate of 3-4% each year. The disease is predominantly diagnosed in older individuals, with the average age for men being 65 and women being 70.

In Nigeria, Cancer is on the rise as well. It is increasingly being diagnosed in people with no family history of the disease. As a result, early detection of Cancer is becoming more crucial.

What is Cancer?

Cancer is a health condition that arises when your body’s cells divide more quickly than usual. Then these unnatural cells develop into a mass or tumor. Cancer can develop practically anywhere in the millions of cells that make up the human body.

Initially, cells die when they age or sustain an injury, and new cells replace them. However, this systematic process sometimes fails, allowing abnormal or destroyed cells to spread outside their intended course. Tumors or lumps of tissue, which may or may not be cancerous, can develop from these cells.

Common Symptoms of Cancer in Nigeria?

Cancer symptoms vary depending on the location, size, and extent of the Cancer’s spread to neighboring organs or tissues. However, these signs generally occur in all types of Cancer:

  • Headache and fever
  • Acne-related or other skin changes on the face, neck, arms, or back

  • Change in bowel function: constipation or diarrhea.

Cancer DNA Test in Nigeria

A DNA test can diagnose specific types of Cancers that are common in Nigeria, such as breast, ovarian and cervical Cancers. It can also detect other types, such as prostate and colon cancers, which affect males and females irrespective of their ethnic heritage or country.

The Cancer DNA test  is a blood test that analyzes a person’s genetic material to reveal whether or not a specific gene mutation is present. Through a DNA test, Nigerians can now learn if they are at an increased risk of developing specific Cancer types and what they can do to reduce the risk.

This DNA test can also be used as an additional method for early Cancer detection. It detects mutation levels known to occur before the onset of clinical symptoms that could indicate an impending risk for developing certain types of cancers.

A positive Cancer DNA result will help the individual take steps to manage their risk of developing Cancer. A negative result will help them learn if their cancer risk is low, but it does not mean the person could never get the disease.

How Does Cancer DNA Test Work?

The doctor will collect a blood sample from the person getting tested. The sample is sent to a laboratory that performs DNA testing. The sample is then analyzed to see if mutations are present in specific genes known to increase an individual’s risk of developing Cancer. This information helps doctors and patients determine whether further tests or treatments are needed.

In conclusion, cancer has been around for a while and will probably be around for a long time. But in this day and age, we have the tools to diagnose and treat Cancer. If you’re unsure whether or not you may have Cancer, it’s best to see a doctor as soon as possible!
